History

The town of Thiers has been famous for its knives and blades and its cutlery industry since the 14th century. These strong regional roots led to the development of the metallurgy sector and specialist forging companies. Continuing this long tradition in the area, FORGINAL medical was established in Thiers. It is the result of the merger of several forging companies.

FORGINAL medical was founded by Gérard Terme.

He is an engineer specialising in mechanical engineering and CNC. He started his forging career in the process planning department. He rose rapidly through the ranks, taking responsibility for quotations, purchasing and then maintenance in a forge with a 300-strong workforce. He then became managing director of another forge located near Thiers. It was here that he decided he wanted to set up his own company, positioning it in innovative, specialist sectors. All the technical expertise and experience he had acquired enabled him to rapidly pinpoint market requirements and position his company accordingly.

His son, Sylvain Terme was of course “immersed” in forging right from his childhood, following in his father’s and indeed his grandfather’s footsteps, who was already a forge operator in his time. The family’s history has always been associated with forging. Following 12 years’ experience outside the company, in the commercial and technical fields, he joined his father’s management team. His father handed over the reins to him over a period of 6 years, with the help of the board, gradually passing on know-how and responsibilities.
